prototype 2 relevant technology

Persuasive technology comes with the fourth wave computing technology (Fogg 2009). Stanford Persuasive Tech Lab declares that persuasive technology began from Stanford in 1990, when BJ Fogg researched the influence of computers on human’s thinking and behaviours. Additionally, the definition of persuasive technology on Wikipedia is a technology that intentionally changes target audience’s attitudes or behaviours through persuasion and social influence.

Fogg behaviour model was developed to analyse people’s behaviour by Fogg (2009), who asserts that performing a target behaviour requires the occurrence of motivators, ability and triggers at the same time. On BJ Fogg’s Behaviour Model website, motivation and ability are clearly described as “compensation relationship” , and triggers were changed to prompts. The green line in Figure 1 (Fogg 2007) represents the behaviour activation threshold, indicating people who have either high motivation with a low ability, or low motivation with high capacity are likely to be triggered to modify actions.
